Jamal Musiala offers opinion when asked about playing abroad like Jude Bellingham with Bayern Munich contract expiring in 2026

Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala has spoken about the possibility of a move away from Germany like Jude Bellingham did in 2023. The midfielder is already in the final 24 months of his contract with the German giants and has been a target for multiple sides.

Musiala left Chelsea for Bayern Munich as a teenager in 2019 and quickly established himself as a top talent with the German giants. Like him, childhood friend Bellingham swapped England for Germany at 16 when he signed with Borussia Dortmund in 2020. Both youngsters played together in the English youth setup before moving to the German Bundesliga.

Jude Bellingham saw his career go up several levels after he decided to leave Borussia Dortmund for Real Madrid last summer. Ahead of representing Germany in the UEFA Nations League against Hungary on September 7, the question of moving abroad was posed to Jamal Musiala.

The young midfielder responded that he is happy at his club and is committed to helping the club achieve its goals. He revealed that while he harbors no immediate thoughts of leaving Germany, football is unpredictable.

He said (via Welt Am Sonntag):

“I'm very happy at FC Bayern and fully focused on our goals. Playing abroad like Bellingham? I'm not thinking about where I will be in five years.
“Things can always change quickly in world of football”

Still only 21, Musiala and Bellingham have quickly climbed to the top of the ladder of youngsters in European football. They finished second and first, respectively, in the 2023 Golden Boy and Kopa Trophies, an indicator of their terrific quality as players.

Jamal Musiala has been linked with a move away from Bayern Munich as a potential replacement for Kevin De Bruyne at Manchester City. The youngster has shown those thoughts to be far from him and has started the season with one goal in two games for Bayern.

Jamal Musiala misses out as Jude Bellingham makes 2024 Ballon d'Or shortlist

Germany international midfielder Jamal Musiala has been left out of the 30-man shortlist for the 2024 Ballon d'Or while Jude Bellingham was included. He is regarded as one of the finest talents in world football, and he dazzled for club and country in the 2023-24 season.

The youngster scored 10 goals and provided six assists in 24 league games for the Bavarian giants. However, they went trophyless for the first time since 2012. He also recorded three goals in five games at Euro 2024 but Germany were eliminated in the quarter-final by eventual winners Spain.

Unlike Musiala, Jude Bellingham made the shortlist after a terrific debut season in which he won the UEFA Champions League with Real Madrid. He also recorded his best goalscoring season ever contributing 23 goals and 13 assists in 42 games across all competitions.

Bellingham helped Los Blancos win Supercopa de Espana, La Liga and the UEFA Champions League. He is among the frontrunners for the award and may emerge as the winner.
