Jeremie Frimpong responds when asked to ‘start, sell or bench’ Real Madrid ace Dani Carvajal, Achraf Hakimi and Trent Alexander-Arnold
Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong recently made the pick between Real Madrid veteran Dani Carvajal, Achraf Hakimi, and Trent Alexander-Arnold. He chose one of the trio to start, one to bench, and one to sell.
In an interview with Goal, Frimpong said (via Madrid Xtra):
“Start Carvajal, bench Hakimi, sell Trent.”
Carvajal is widely regarded as one of the best right-backs of his generation for his performances and achievements. He came through Real Madrid's academy and while he spent one year at Bayer Leverkusen, he's made 424 appearances for the club. He's scored 14 goals and provided 65 assists in that time.
Carvajal has won the UEFA Champions League six times, among numerous other trophies. He's also won the UEFA Euro 2024 and Nations League 2023 with Spain, having registered one goal and seven assists in 51 games for the side.
Hakimi, meanwhile, has played for the likes of Real Madrid, and Inter Milan and currently plies his trade for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). He's won one Champions League, one Serie A, and three Ligue 1 titles, among numerous other trophies.
Finally, Alexander-Arnold is considered one of the best right-backs in the world in recent years. His attacking prowess has seen him record 83 assists and 19 goals in 316 games for Liverpool so far. He's won one Champions League, and one Premier League title, among other honors.

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid in recent months. With Dani Carvajal turning 33 in January 2025, Los Blancos could look for a potential replacement. Moreover, Alexander-Arnold's contract with Liverpool expires next summer.
If the Englishman leaves, the Reds are monitoring Jeremie Frimpong as a potential replacement. As per Caught Offside, the Dutchman has a release clause worth £34 million in his contract, with Manchester United also interested. He's made 149 appearances for Leverkusen, scoring 26 goals and providing 36 assists.
He's started this season well, scoring one goal and providing four assists in seven games across competitions. Frimpong has directly been linked with Los Blancos as well along with his Bayer Leverkusen teammate Florian Wirtz.
Alexander-Arnold, meanwhile, will be open to negotiating a pre-contract with foreign in January, as things stand. Notably, Carvajal's contract with Real Madrid also expires next summer.
