Joe Cole makes bold predictions for Manchester United vs Chelsea
Former England international Joe Cole has backed Chelsea to defeat Manchester United in their upcoming Premier League clash on Sunday, November 3. If the Blues do get over the line, this would be their first win at Old Trafford since 2013.
Speaking to PaddyPower, Cole predicted a 1-0 win for his former side. He claimed the Carabao Cup loss to Newcastle United was only a blip and Enzo Maresca's side would complete the job against Manchester United. He said:
"I think Chelsea will go to Old Trafford and win. Put aside the League Cup game against Newcastle, and Chelsea’s form has been great. They are probably about two years ahead of where Manchester United are right now. They have lots of young players and I think they’ll go there and enjoy the challenge. Manchester United will turn up but Chelsea will win the game. It’ll be tight because Chelsea haven’t won at Old Trafford since 2013, but I fancy a 1-0 Chelsea win."
Enzo Maresca's side are sixth in the Premier League table but can jump to third with a win at Old Trafford. On the other hand, the Red Devils are 13th in the table and a win would see them jump to 10th.
Manchester United vs Chelsea team news
Manchester United head into the match with many first-team players out injured. Harry Maguire, Kobbie Mainoo, Tyrell Malacia, Mason Mount, Luke Shaw and Leny Yoro are already ruled out while Christian Eriksen faces a late fitness test.
Interim head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy told the club's official website:
“Not many changes. We're still hoping and working hard to get Christian Eriksen part of the squad. He's working hard to make it in the last moment. And other than that, there's no news on players that will be available, any other than [Wednesday].”
Chelsea have a fully fit side coming to Old Trafford on Sunday. Jadon Sancho will be the only player unavailable to Enzo Maresca as the Englishman is on loan from the Red Devils and cannot feature against his parent club.
