Jose Mourinho racks up staggering bill as he continues to stay in luxury suite even after 141 days of his Fenerbahce appointment: Reports
Jose Mourinho is reportedly spending a humongous amount on hotel bills in Turkey. The Portuguese manager joined Turkish giants Fenerbahce in the summer but has yet to secure permanent accommodation, opting for a luxury hotel instead.
According to a report by the Daily Mail (via SPORTbible), the 61-year-old has been staying at a luxury Four Seasons Hotel in Istanbul. The cheapest room in the hotel is reportedly priced at around £1000 per night.
Mourinho officially joined Fenerbahce on June 2, which means he has been staying at the hotel for 141 days. This suggests that he has racked up at least £141,000 in hotel bills since then. The report also claims that the former Premier League manager has been consuming mostly chicken soup, Margherita pizza, ice cream, and sparkling water at the hotel.
This is not the first time Mourinho has stayed at a hotel while managing a club. According to CNN, he also stayed in a Premium Riverside Suite at The Lowry Hotel while managing Manchester United.
Whilst this lifestyle might be quite extravagant, it should not significantly affect Mourinho’s pocket, as he reportedly earns an astonishing £10 million per annum.
On the pitch, Jose Mourinho's Fenerbahce have performed relatively well. The Yellow Canaries are currently fourth in the Turkish Super Lig, eight points behind leaders Galatasaray, but with a game in hand.
Jose Mourinho to take on former club Manchester United in Europa League
The Portuguese manager is set to face his former employers Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday, October 24. The clash will take place at Fenerbahce’s Sukru Saracoglu Stadium.
Jose Mourinho will hope to upset his former club who have endured a difficult start to the season. Erik ten Hag's men are yet to record a win in the Europa League this term.
The Red Devils are ranked 21st in the standings after draws with Twente (1-1) and Porto (3-3). Fenerbahce, meanwhile, defeated Union Saint-Gilloise (2-1) before being held to a 1-1 draw by Twente and are 13th in the table.
