Journalist calls Kevin De Bruyne a 'spoiled brat' after interaction following Belgium's Euro 2024 loss to France
Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri has hit out at Kevin De Bruyne after an outburst in the post-match presser following Belgium's Euro 2024 defeat to France. The Belgian star was not happy with Palmeri's question about the country's golden generation and called him 'stupid' as he walked out of the press conference.
The journalist asked the Manchester City midfielder if Belgium's golden generation were a failure after Euro 2024 elimination. De Bruyne did not like the question and hit back with (via @tancredipalmeri on X):
"Do you think that France, England, Spain and Germany do not have a golden generation?"
De Bruyne immediately walked out of the room but while leaving, hushed "stupid," seemingly directed at the journalist.
Palmeri, who saw the video on social media, hit back with a post on X that read:
"Ahah DeBruyne just called me stupid. Hey Kevin, little memo for you: the golden generation you mentioned of France, England, Germany and Spain they ALL REACHED A FINAL! Usual footballer that wants only question telling him how good they are. Spoiled brat [sic]."
In the same conference, Kevin De Bruyne said that he was not planning on deciding his international future yet. He said:
"It's too early to say. Let me process this first. First a good holiday and then I'll think about the future."
Belgium coach Domenico Tedesco has made it clear that he does not want De Bruyne to retire. The midfielder will be 35 by the time the 2026 FIFA World Cup rolls in.
Kevin De Bruyne wants to stay at Manchester City
While Kevin De Bruyne admitted he was yet to decide on his international future, he clarified that he wanted to stay at Manchester City for at least one more season. The midfielder said (via GOAL):
“I’ve read a lot of headlines, but I haven’t spoken to anyone. I hope I can last a few more years. Everyone knows I’m under contract at City for another year. And that I haven’t talked to anyone yet. I assume there will be talks with City in the next few months. If not, I will have to look for something else. But it’s hard to say what will happen. My summer will be very quiet. I will enjoy my holidays. And then I will return to City.”
Kevin De Bruyne reportedly received offers from the Saudi Pro League but opted to not make the move.
