Journalist claims Chelsea have already made an offer for 23-year-old Serie A star
Chelsea have made an offer for Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, according to journalist Julien Laurens. The French reporter believes the Serbian could be a perfect fit at Stamford Bridge under soon-to-be Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino.
Vlahovic has attracted interest from multiple outfits including Chelsea, Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), and Bayern Munich. The Serbia international has impressed this season for Juventus, scoring 14 goals and providing four assists across all competitions.
Laurens has now confirmed that the Blues have tabled an offer for the striker. He told The Byline:
"I was told today by someone that Chelsea are in for Vlahovic and have made an offer for him. I think Vlahovic is better technically than Lukaku, but he's still really a goalscorer. There's not much of an all-round game about him that you can see in [someone like] Harry Kane."
The French journalist added, touching upon Pochettino's time at Tottenham Hotspur managing Harry Kane:
"By the way, Poch made Harry Kane what he is now, a No.9 and No.10. But Poch might change, he might just want a proper No.9 and Vlahovic, I think, will do that really well."
Laurens further stated on out-of-favor Blues loanee Romelu Lukaku's future:
"The fact that Chelsea are in for Vlahovic tells you that they are not counting on Lukaku. I think he will go back to Inter, eventually, on loan. And Poch will be able to get a striker that he wants to work with more. If that's Vlahovic, fair enough, or maybe somebody else like Osimhen."
It remains to be seen who will be the Blues' No.9 next season.
"We can expect that" - Ben Jacobs details what Mauricio Pochettino has 'emphasized' on Chelsea transfer business ahead of summer move
Pochettino is set to take over the reins at Chelsea ahead of the 2023/24 campaign. Frank Lampard will see out his brief tenure as the club's interim boss till the end of the current season.
Ahead of his arrival, the Argentine manager has reportedly placed a lot of importance on securing players that are Premier League proven, according to CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs.
The reporter provided an update on the Blues' strategy in the upcoming summer transfer window and told GIVEMESPORT:
"The other thing that Pochettino has emphasised is that Premier League proven quality is really important. I think that's significant because if you look at Chelsea's recruitment throughout the last two windows, it's been a bit scattergun. We can expect that from the first summer because of the new ownership and Thomas Tuchel pushing for certain things."
He added:
“But then the January window, although there was a strategy, was very much youth based. They weren't afraid to bring in players from all over the world. Malo Gusto came in from Lyon, Andre Santos the Brazilian, and Enzo Fernandez from Argentina. They signed Mudryk, who had played in the Champions League, but again had no Premier League experience.”
Chelsea are currently 11th in the Premier League table and will next face Manchester City on 21 May.
