Journalist provides update on Marcus Rashford's future at Manchester United amid exit links

Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Seth has offered some insight into Marcus Rashford's future at Manchester United this summer. He claims that the Red Devils would like to keep him amid exit links this window.

Rashford played a key role in the 2022-23 campaign for United, helping them win the Carabao Cup and secure a third-place finish in the Premier League.

He scored 30 goals in all competitions that season, ending it as the club's top goalscorer, and subsequently signed a new five-year contract. However, the England international suffered a major decline in form last season, netting just eight times across competitions.

Rashford's future at United was in doubt amid interest from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Arsenal. However, journalist Dharmesh Sheth has now reported that Rashford remains in Ten Hag's plans and that the club are intent on returning him to his best form.

He told Sky Sports:

"The information we have is that Manchester United's primary focus at the moment is to try and get Marcus Rashford back to his best form. Now he remains an important part of the Manchester United squad and as it stands, he is expected to stay at Old Trafford.
"If you remember, he only signed a new five-year contract last summer. That came off the back of a season where he scored 30 goals in all competitions. Last season wasn't so good for Marcus Rashford. He made 50 appearances for club and country and he scored nine goals.
"Now, that form meant that Gareth Southgate decided he wasn't going to be a part of England's Euro 2024 squad. But as it stands, he's expected to stay at Manchester United, with United hell-bent on trying to get him back to this kind of form. Particularly, the form he had the season before last."

Manchester United finished eighth in the Premier League table last season, recording 18 wins, six draws, and 14 losses.

Mikael Silvestre urges Manchester United to keep Marcus Rashford amid exit links

Former Manchester United star Mikael Silvestre has urged the Red Devils to keep Marcus Rashford this summer. The Frenchman believes it would be unwise for the club to let go of an experienced winger who came through the academy.

Rashford earned his first-team promotion at Old Trafford in January 2016 under former manager Louis van Gaal. In that time, the England international has registered over 400 appearances, scoring 131 goals and providing 66 assists.

Silvestre highlighted Rashford's value and insisted that a player of his calibre in the transfer market would be significantly expensive for United. He said (via football.london):

"Letting Rashford go would not be the right decision because you need to go in the market and find someone better than Marcus, if that's the case.
"If you find that player he will be very expensive. Marcus is a senior, experienced Mancunian from the academy. I think he wants to stay. The manager likes him. I just hope Marcus bounces back this season."
