Jude Bellingham reveals reason behind new celebration with Trent Alexander-Arnold in England's Euro 2024 win against Serbia
Jude Bellingham has revealed the reason behind his celebration with Trent Alexander-Arnold after scoring in England's Euro 2024 opener against Serbia on Sunday, June 16.
The Three Lions managed a 1-0 win, courtesy of a 13th-minute header from Bellingham, who turned in Bukayo Saka's deflected cross from close range. The 20-year-old pulled off a celebration with Alexander-Arnold after scoring, with both covering their faces.
The Real Madrid midfielder revelaed that it was a reference to a video game they play together. He said (via Liverpool Echo):
"The celebration was from a game we play called Wolf. One of the staff always holds his face like that, when he doesn't know what's going on. So It was kind of a small celebration for the backroom staff."
Jude Bellingham and Trent Alexander-Arnold have been good friends for a while now. The former was heavily linked with a move to Liverpool last year, and his friendship with Alexander-Arnold added fuel to the fire. Bellingham, though, eventually ended up at Real Madrid.
Jude Bellingham continues his rich vein of form
Jude Bellingham arrived at Euro 2024 after a spectacular season with Real Madrid. He scored 23 goals and provided 13 assists in 42 appearances across competitions for Los Blancos.
Bellingham's first season in the Spanish capital ended with three trophies. He won the Supercopa de Espana, La Liga, and UEFA Champions League with the Spanish giants.
The midfielder has now transformed his form to the Euros, scoring in England's opening game. The Three Lions possess incredible talent in their squad and are one of the consensus favorites to win the tournament in Germany.
Their win against Serbia at the Veltis-Arena was certainly a good start, although Serbia had their moments during the game. England also have Denmark and Slovenia in their group.
Gareth Southgate's side will return to action on June 20 against Denmark. They currently lead Group C with three points. The other game of the group, Slovenia vs. Denmark, ended in a 1-1 draw on Sunday, June 16.
