Jurgen Klopp provides injury update on Andy Robertson and 3 other Liverpool stars ahead of Toulouse clash
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Andy Robertson has undergone shoulder surgery. He added that the Reds will be without Thiago and Bajcetic too, but they could see Cody Gakpo in the squad.
Speaking to the media ahead of the match against Toulouse in the UEFA Europa League, Klopp confirmed that he would be without three players. He does have a positive with Gakpo returning to training on Sunday.
The manager said:
"Yes, Robbo has had surgery and it all went well. It all went as good as it could go so recovery starts after he wakes up. I think it happened this morning, so that is it. We don't know how long that will take but the first step is done and that is good."
He added:
"Cody has been in full training now since Sunday, which is good. It means he is available for the full squad and what we do that [information] we will see but that is good as well. Who else is out? Thiago, no. Bajcetic no. Not in team training."
Liverpool are at the top of their Europa League group and will be up against the second-placed side this week. A win this week would see the Reds move five points clear and all but seal their place in the next round.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp not thinking about next Premier League matches
Jurgen Klopp has stated that he is not thinking about their match against Nottingham Forest at the weekend.
He wants to respect Toulouse and concentrate on the Europa League clash. He believes they cannot take the Ligue 1 side lightly, as their tactics are based on teams.
He added in the press conference:
"I haven't thought about Sunday (against Nottingham Forest) yet to be honest, not at all. Toulouse deserves all of our respect. They have a really interesting story I would say. Winning the FA Cup last year, or the French Cup, it is a massive, massive thing. They have a really young team, a talented team, a football team."
He continued:
"When you see them playing it is really nice, they have a really clear idea of what they want to do. We have to see how they show up here. Against Paris Saint-Germain or Lens they played slightly differently."
Klopp has stated that the starting XI will see a few changes as he needs to rotate his squad. Liverpool also have Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup next week.
