Jurgen Klopp's agent shuts down rumors linking the ex-Liverpool boss with move to Bundesliga club
Jurgen Klopp’s agent Mark Kosicke has dismissed rumors about the former Liverpool manager taking over at Bundesliga side RB Leipzig, calling them “total nonsense.”
Klopp stepped down from his role at the end of the 2023-24 campaign after a trophy-laden eight-and-a-half-year stint. During his tenure, the Reds won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, two League Cups, the Club World Cup among other honors.
While announcing his decision to leave Liverpool, Klopp said that he had run out of energy and wanted to take a break from football. However, there has been speculation about the 56-year-old’s next role.
A recent report from German publication Salzburger Nachrichten claimed that Klopp could replace Marco Rose as the RB Leipzig manager. However, the rumors have been rubbished by Kosicke, who told Sky Sports Germany (via GOAL):
“It’s total nonsense. There’s nothing to it.”
Earlier, England icon Gary Lineker said that he had heard a rumor that Klopp might return to his former club Borussia Dortmund as the club’s president.
“I heard a little rumor that he might end up being president of Borussia Dortmund, which would be amazing," Lineker said on the Rest Is Football podcast.
During a seven-year spell, Klopp guided the club to consecutive Bundesliga titles (2010-11, 2011-12) and the 2013 Champions League final, which they lost to Bayern Munich.
Klopp is a revered figure at the club, and a president’s everyday workload is much lighter than a manager, so it is something he could consider in the future.
Jurgen Klopp returns to Anfield for Taylor Swift concert
Since stepping down from his role at Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp has been enjoying his well-deserved break from management. The German attended the Champions League final in Wembley, where his former side Borussia Dortmund lost to Real Madrid, and was seen playing paddle in Mallorca.
Klopp is now back at Anfield, but not for football - for a Taylor Swift concert.
In a video posted on Instagram, Jurgen Klopp said:
“So! Back in Liverpool and now it's Taylor time! So, three things I had to do today, no I had two. A barber appointment with Umut then we're going out to Anfield.”
He added:
“First time going to Anfield not for a football game but in the stands and watching Taylor Swift. So yeah, I'm not Taylor-made obviously, but Taylor-ready! Let's go to Anfield and have a good night or a great night would be cool. See you there, bye!”
