Juventus ready to offer EURO 2024 star to Manchester United in deal for Jadon Sancho or Mason Greenwood - Reports
Juventus are reportedly willing to offer Federico Chiesa to Manchester United in an effort to sign Jadon Sancho or Mason Greenwood in the summer. Chiesa is currently an integral part of Italy's Euro 2024 squad, which entered the competition as defending champions.
According to a report by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italian outfit is trying to enhance its attack following a third-place finish in the Serie A last season. This will allow them to return to the UEFA Champions League after having missed out on the competition after finishing seventh in the 2022-23 campaign.
The Old Lady has already acquired the services of Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz for a reported fee of £25 million. The Italian heavyweights have also offered players, Samuel Iling Junior and Enzo Barrenechea, as part of the deal to sign the Brazilian.
Chiesa has been one of the more prolific performers for Juventus in the last four seasons. In 131 games across all competitions, the Italian has netted 32 goals and managed 23 assists.
Jadon Sancho was sent out on loan to Dortmund following a fallout with Erik ten Hag. He managed to reach the final of the Champions League and the German outfit might try to keep him at Signal Iduna Park. His contract expires in 2026 and could really use some regular playing time. Furthermore, a move to Turin will also allow him to play Champions League football again.
As for Greenwood, the Englishman was suspended by Manchester United in 2022. While his suspension was lifted, the 22-year-old was sent out on loan to Getafe in 2023. He scored 10 goals in 36 appearances across all competitions for the Spanish side.
Manchester United to compete in the Europa League following FA Cup win
The Red Devils will compete in the Europa League following their 2-1 win against Manchester City in the final of the FA Cup. Last season's final was a repeat of the 2022-23 final. The Cityzens had emerged victorious after defeating United 2-1.
Erik ten Hag's men had finished eighth in the Premier League. Following their FA Cup win, United took the Europa League spot that was earlier held by Chelsea. The Blues will compete in the Europa Conference League.
Despite an underwhelming season, Manchester United will continue with the Dutch manager at the helm of the club.
