Kobbie Mainoo ranked 7th behind two Manchester United stars as ratings for 2024 Golden Boy award come to light
Kobbie Mainoo is ranked seventh behind two of his Manchester United teammates, Alejandro Garnacho and Leny Yoro, in the ratings for the 2024 Golden Boy award. La Masia graduate Lamine Yamal is on top of the list with a rating of 94.4.
Mainoo is seventh with an 85.9 rating. Argentine forward Garnacho is third with a rating of 91.1 and Leny Yoro is fourth with a 90.2 rating.
Mainoo, who made his breakthrough at Old Trafford last season, recorded five goals and one assist in 32 appearances for Manchester United. He won the 2022–23 Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year.
Alejandro Garnacho, who started his senior career with the Red Devils in 2022, netted 10 goals and provided five assists in the 2023-24 campaign. Leny Yoro, on the other hand, signed for the club in July 18, 2024, on a five-year contract valid until 2029 with the option of an additional year. The 18-year-old French defender netted three goals in 44 appearances for Ligue 1 club LOSC Lille in the 2023-24 campaign.
The other players in the top 10 Golden Boy football benchmark Index include Benfica defensive midfielder João Neves in second with a 93.4 rating. Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Warren Zaïre-Emery is fifth with a 89.6 rating, and Manchester City forward Sávio is sixth with a 86.9 rating.
Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsí stands eighth with a rating of 83.5, followed by Bayern Munich midfielder Aleksandar Pavlović in ninth with a 83.2 rating. Manchester City defender Rico Lewis is tenth with a 82.1 rating.
Manchester United's new signing on his relationship with Kobbie Mainoo
French defender Leny Yoro opened up on his relationship with Kobbie Mainoo as he started his journey with Manchester United. The French defender, who joined the club in a reported £52 million deal, made his non-competitive debut in the Red Devils' 2-0 win against Scottish giants Rangers on July 20.
In an interview with Manchester United's official website, Leny Yoro spoke about his growing friendship with Mainoo and said:
"I'm really close to Kobbie [Mainoo], and this will help me a lot. He sent me a message. He's a really good guy."
Manchester United will play against arch-rivals and reigning Premier League champions Manchester City in the final of FA Community Shield on August 10, at Wembley Stadium.
