Kylian Mbappe left out of PSG squad for last league game; Parisians yet to specify reason for his absence

Kylian Mbappe didn't travel with the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) squad to Metz for the final game of Ligue 1. The French superstar striker was not part of the 20-man squad, but it is unclear what led to Luis Enrique's decision, as the Parisians are yet to provide a reason for his absence. Mbappe is also not on the injury report for Sunday's game.

Mbappe will not play again in Ligue 1, after announcing his decision to leave PSG at the end of the season. His last appearance with the French club is expected to take place next Saturday, May 25, when the Parisiens take on Lyon in the French Cup final.

Kylian Mbappe has announced his decision to leave PSG after seven seasons with the club. He is now set to join Real Madrid.

Mbappe leaves the Parisiens having won six league titles and will be Ligue 1's top scorer for a sixth time. He has scored a total of 256 goals across all competitions since 2017.

Kylian Mbappe says he needed a new challenge after seven years with PSG

Kylian Mbappe announced his decision to leave PSG after seven years. He joined the club in 2017 from Monaco and emerged as one of the top players in club history.

Still, he admitted that it was the right time for a change in a video where he talked about his departure from the Parisiens.

"There are a lot of emotions. For many years I have had the great honour to be a member of the biggest French club. It’s difficult to announce this, to leave my country, Ligue 1, a championship I have always known, but I think I needed this, a new challenge after seven years," Mbappe said, via The Guardian.

Kylian Mbappe won every major title he competed for as a PSG player except for the UEFA Champions League. The Parisiens didn't win the European title and went as far as the final back in 2020 when they lost to Bayern Munich.
