Kylian Mbappe's brother set to leave PSG after reaching agreement with Ligue 1 rivals - Reports

French superstar Kylian Mbappe's brother Ethan Mbappe is reportedly set to leave Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) after reaching an agreement with Ligue 1 rivals LOSC Lille. According to Foot Mercato's Santi Aouna, the 2020-21 Ligue 1 champions have a verbal agreement to secure the 17-year-old midfielder's services on a free transfer.

Aouna wrote on X:

"As revealed today, Lille accelerated on [securing a deal for] Ethan Mbappe. Verbal agreement reached with the Parisians. Medical visit being planned by Les Dogues."

Ethan joined the PSG academy in August 2017, at the same time that Kylian moved from Monaco to the Parc des Princes on an initial one-year loan. The latter's move was made permanent in 2018, and Ethan continued working his way up the youth levels at the club.

The midfielder made 54 appearances across youth teams at PSG, bagging 11 goals and nine assists, before making the jump to the senior team this season. He has been substituted onto the pitch in five games (three in Ligue 1 and two in the Coupe de France) in the 2023-24 campaign.

PSG's first-team squad already boasts of many young, top-quality midfielders like Vitinha (24), Manuel Ugarte (23), Warren Zaire-Emery (18) and Kang-in Lee (23). With such incredible talent ahead of Ethan in the pecking order, breaking into the first team was always going to be extremely challenging for him.

On the other hand, Lille are known for having developed some of the best talents in the footballing world. Victor Osimhen, Rafael Leao, Eden Hazard, Mike Maignan and many other superstars of the modern game made their senior breakthrough with Les Dogues, before securing their big-money moves.

Kylian Mbappe's move to Real Madrid is likely to be announced within the next few weeks, which could also have played a role in Ethan's move away from the club.

This has led to speculations about his brother Ethan's future at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). Rumours have been swirling about a potential reunion with his brother at Real Madrid, while other reports suggest that he has reached an agreement with Ligue 1 outfit Lille.

In a video posted by X user @EMBAPPEFR, a group of people asked Ethan for autographs and selfies as he left PSG's training ground. During the fan interactions, he was also asked:

"Are you going to Real [Madrid] like your brother?"

The 17-year-old simply replied:

"No."

With his contract expiring at the end of the season, Ethan Mbappe is expected to leave the Parc des Princes. His next destination is likely to be Lille, with a medical test reportedly being planned by the club ahead of a permanent transfer in the summer.
