Kylian Mbappe shares first thoughts after arriving at Real Madrid for medical ahead of official presentation
New Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappe has fulfilled a 'dream' on arriving at the club ahead of his official presentation at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday (July 16). The 25-year-old France captain has arrived on a free transfer.
In seven productive seasons at PSG, Mbappe scored goals galore - a club-record 256 (in 308 games) - before deciding to embark on a new adventure outside his country.
Coming off his most prolific season - 44 goals in 48 games across competitions - Mbappe endured a rather lean Euro 2024 campaign. The Frenchman netted just once in five games and assisted twice as France lost 2-1 to eventual winners Spain in the final.
Nevertheless, he has now arrived in Madrid ahead of his official presentation. Signing autographs for fans and posing for photos, the Frenchman said that it's the fulfillment of a dream for him to play for the La Liga giants (as per Madrid Xtra):
“Dream fulfilled? FOR SURE.”
As per Madrid Xtra, Los Blancos are set to have all 15 of their UEFA Champions League on stage for Mbappe's presentation.
It's pertinent to note that the continental honour has eluded Mbappe, something he would like to realise with Los Blancos.
"A dream come true": Kylian Mbappe on his Real Madrid move
Real Madrid were in hot pursuit of Kylian Mbappe for more than two years but finally struck gold this summer. The Frenchman announced his PSG departure at the end of the last season.
Describing his Madrid move as a 'dream come true', the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner is 'happy', 'proud' and 'excited' to join the reigning La Liga and UEFA Champions League winner. He tweeted (as translated from Spanish):
"A dream come true, So happy and proud to join the club of my dream @realmadrid. Nobody can understand how excited I am right now. Can’t wait to see you, Madridistas, and thanks for your unbelievable support. ¡Hala Madrid!"
Regarded as one of the best players of his generation, Kylian Mbappe is expected to make Los Blancos the team to beat in Spain and Europe next season and beyond.
