Lamine Yamal targeted with racist chants by Real Madrid fans during Barcelona's El Clasico win - Reports

Barcelona prodigy Lamine Yamal was reportedly targeted with racist chants during their LaLiga clash against Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday, October 26. Barcelona thrashed the home side in the season's first El Clasico by a scoreline of 4-0.

After a goalless first half, Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring with a quickfire brace (54' and 56'). Lamine Yamal made it 3-0 in the 77th minute with a right-footed shot that cannoned into the roof of the net. The final goal was scored by Raphinha, who produced an audacious chip over the head of goalkeeper Andriy Lunin (84').

As per Barca Universal, videos surfaced after the game showing Lamine Yamal being subjected to racist and xenophobic slurs by Real Madrid fans from the stands of Santiago Bernabeu. The deplorable incident occurred immediately after Yamal's goal that put the visitors 3-0 up.

According to Diario Sport (via @BarcaTimes on X), fans were heard shouting "Puto N**ro", "Puto M*ro", "Mena de m**rda".

The 17-year-old celebrated his goal by doing the iconic 'calma' celebration of Cristiano Ronaldo followed by performing Vinicius Jr.'s dance routine with Alejandro Balde. He also pointed at the back of his shirt, seemingly displeasing several Madridistas in the stands.

Lamine Yamal has had a meteoric rise in football since his debut for Barcelona's senior side in 2023. At just 17, the La Masia graduate has been earmarked by several players and pundits as the next big thing in football.

Yamal has been brilliant for Hansi Flick's side this season, amassing 13 goal contributions (six goals and seven assists) in 14 matches across competitions.

Real Madrid have issued an official statement condemning the racism and xenophobia faced by Barcelona's Lamine Yamal from the stands of Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday. The club has also confirmed that an investigation has been opened to look into the matter.

“Real Madrid strongly condemns any type of behaviour involving racism, xenophobia or violence in football and sport, and deeply regrets the insults uttered by a few fans last night in one of the corners of the stadium,” said the club's official statement. (via Madrid Universal)
“Real Madrid has opened an investigation to locate and identify the perpetrators of these regrettable and despicable insults, in order to adopt the appropriate disciplinary and judicial measures," the statement added.

This is not the first time Los Blancos have taken a strong stance against racism. Their own superstar Vinicius Jr. has been subjected to racist chants several times in the past and the club has been swift to take strict measures against such actions.

According to Madrid Universal, Los Blancos will work with LaLiga to identify the people behind the chants and take stringent action against the culprits.
