“Let him continue his apprenticeship like this” - Carlo Ancelotti on Endrick struggling for playing time at Real Madrid
Carlo Ancelotti has called for patience as Endrick continues to struggle for minutes at Real Madrid. The Italian manager believes that the Brazilian is not demanding anything and knows his situation well.
Speaking to the media ahead of the Rayo Vallecano clash on Saturday, December 14, Ancelotti was quizzed about Endrick. The Real Madrid manager was quick to state that it was all down to hard work in training, just like every other player, saying (via Managing Madrid):
“But it’s not just him who needs to work, it’s everyone. He is very young and has one of the best strikers in the world in front of him. We have to be patient. He would like to play more, of course, but he’s not asking for anything. Let him continue his apprenticeship like this. That’s all.”
It was not the first time Ancelotti has called for patience from Endrick. He spoke about the Brazilian in September as well and said that the biggest issue for the teenager is the options in front of him. He said (via GOAL):
"On the one hand, yes, I may be being unfair, because he is training well; he is someone with a lot of quality. But in front of him are Vinicius, Rodrygo, Mbappe... it is necessary, for him to be a little patient."
Endrick has played 149 minutes for Real Madrid in all competitions this season. He has scored twice and assisted once in the 14 appearances.
Carlo Ancelotti has no plans to loan out Real Madrid duo
Carlo Ancelotti has dismissed reports that Real Madrid will loan out Endrick or Arda Guler in January. He wants the duo to remain at the club and stay patient for their chances this season. He said (via Managing Madrid):
“Endrick is staying here, as is Güler. They may need more minutes, but I’m not prejudiced against anyone. I just try to put the best players in every game, whether they are 18 or 40. Sometimes it can be like that with Endrick, with Güler or without them.
"You have to be patient with the youngsters, yes. They bring enthusiasm but, because they are young, they also have to learn certain things. I’m not prejudiced against youngsters: in my career I’ve put 17- or 18-year-olds in if I thought they were the right ones to play the games.”
Real Madrid are two points behind Barcelona in the league table but have a game in hand. Atletico Madrid are just a point behind them and also have a game in hand.
