"Let’s not forget that" - Pundit claims Jadon Sancho has made a mistake by joining Chelsea from Manchester United

Pundit Michael Dawson has warned Jadon Sancho that joining Chelsea from Manchester United is a mistake. He believes that the Blues are not in a good space and that the Englishman will struggle.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Dawson stated that Sancho replacing Raheem Sterling at Stamford Bridge is confusing. The pundit believes that the former Borussia Dortmund star should have moved to a side where he could have started regularly and said:

"It's a surprising move for me when I look at the players already at Chelsea in that wide area. Jadon Sancho is a good player, let's not forget that."
"He was a superstar at Borussia Dortmund, he went to United and it didn't work out for him. But to go to Chelsea, why will it be any different there? Where's he going to play? I honestly thought he needed to go somewhere where he was going to play."
"I think he's the kind of player that wants to be playing week in, week out. He's going to be in and out like you won't believe at Chelsea. Chelsea is an absolutely crazy place right now."
"You're bringing in Sancho for [Raheem] Sterling. It blows my mind. It hasn't worked for him at United, it did at Dortmund. That seemed like home to him and he was playing his best football there. The clubs he played for are unbelievable but he needs to play."

The Blues have reportedly agreed a loan for the season with Manchester United. However, they will have an obligation to buy him for around £20-25 million if they finish in the top 14 in the 2024-25 Premier League (via Fabrizio Romano).

Erik ten Hag did not want Manchester United to let go of Chelsea target Jadon Sancho

Erik ten Hag spoke to the media on Friday (August 30) and stated that he did not want to let go of Jadon Sancho this summer. He stated that the Englishman was needed for squad depth, however, the club agreed to loan him out:

"He is a player in our squad and we are happy with him. We need a good squad, we need depth. We have to play many games until January. After the break we play every third day so we need options."

Manchester United also had interest in Antony from Real Betis but the Red Devils rejected the loan offer for the Brazilian as they were unwilling to let go of players on deadline day.
