“Let’s see if I have a race with Mbappe and beat him” - Barcelona star makes feelings clear ahead of Euro 2024 face-off with Kylian Mbappe

Barcelona forward Ferran Torres spoke about facing Kylian Mbappe in Spain's Euro 2024 semi-final clash against France. The match is set to take place on Tuesday, June 9, at Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany.

Earlier this week, it was reported that the French captain had recorded a higher sprint speed than the Spaniard. Ahead of La Roja's fight against Les Bleus to reach this year's tournament finals, Torres said (via Get Spanish Football News):

"Let’s see if I have a race with Mbappé … And beat him in speed during the semi-finals."

As Kylian Mbappe is debuting for Real Madrid in the upcoming season, and Ferran Torres' contract with the Blaugrana is valid until June 30, 2027, both players are expected to play against each other in club football.

Ferran Torres, who made his senior debut for Spain in 2020, has netted 20 goals and provided four assists in 45 appearances across all competitions for his nation. Mbappe, meanwhile, recorded 48 goals and 34 assists in 83 matches for France since his senior debut in 2017.

France won the UEFA European Championship twice, in 1984 and 2000, while Spain claimed the title in 1964, 2008, and 2012.
