“Let’s watch TV? 3 mins later” - Neymar uploads hilarious Instagram post about falling asleep during Brazil vs Colombia 2024 Copa America match
Neymar uploaded a funny post on Instagram about falling asleep during Brazil's 1-1 draw with Colombia at the 2024 Copa America on Tuesday, July 2. The Selecao were widely expected to win the contest, but a sub-par performance saw both sides share the spoils.
Brazil have cemented their spot in the knockout rounds by finishing second in their group with five points, two behind Colombia. The five-time world champions will next take Uruguay in the quarter-finals.
It was hardly an exciting performance from Brazil as they were unable to overpower Colombia. A pure moment of brilliance came through Raphinha's free-kick goal in the 12th minute, but they were pretty lackluster after that point, as their opponents shone.
James Rodriguez hit the crossbar with a free-kick before a Davinson Sanchez header was ruled out for offside. Eventually, on the cusp of half-time, Daniel Munoz scored the equalizer (45+2).
It was a powerful showing from Colombia in the second half and they did come close to securing the win several times but were not clinical enough in front of goal.
Brazil's shabby performance saw Neymar take to Instagram to post a picture of himself sleeping with his children during the game:
“Let’s watch TV? 3 mins later...”
The Selecao will hope they can sort out their struggles before facing Uruguay on Saturday, July 6.
Why Neymar is not playing with Brazil at 2024 Copa America
Neymar is not part of the Brazil squad for their Copa America 2024 campaign. He is not the only star player missing out, with Thiago Silva and Casemiro also no longer in the squad.
However, while Silva's case is age-related and Casemiro has been omitted due to poor form, Neymar is dealing with a long-term injury. He was on international duty in October 2023 when he suffered an ACL injury that has kept him out of contention for club and country ever since.
The former Barcelona superstar did not partake in Al-Hilal winning the Saudi Pro League after a handful of games, and now, the 32-year-old remains unavailable for his country.
Brazil will have to make do without him and look to advance to the final like they did in the previous edition of the Copa America.
