Youngsters Bukayo Saka, Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo also find themselves on this list alongside veterans Mohamed Salah, Toni Kroos and Antoine Griezmann. Some players who have often gone under the radar, such as Granit Xhaka, Nicolo Barella and Viktor Gyokeres, have also been named on it.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have been in chart-busting form this season
Lionel Messi, who plays for Inter Miami in the Major League Soccer (MLS), has been in excellent form throughout this season. Messi has 23 goals for his club this season, second only to teammate Luis Suarez's leading 25. The Argentine is also on top of the list of players with the most assists at his club - 13.
Messi also helped his team win the Supporters' Shield this season. They, however, missed out on the MLS Cup after being edged out 3-2 by Atlanta United in the third and decisive match of Round 1 of the playoffs.
Cristiano Ronaldo, meanwhile, plays for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League (SPL). He has made a total of 79 appearances for the club since moving there from Manchester United in 2023, in which he has scored 68 goals. Ronaldo has been in fine fettle in the SPL season, scoring six goals in nine matches and bagging two assists.
