Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo? F1 superstar Lewis Hamilton picks between the 2 superstars

Formula 1 great Lewis Hamilton has revealed who he prefers out of Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo. The English racecar driver gave his opinion about the debate on football's G.O.A.T. (greatest of all time).

The debate about who between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo is the GOAT in football has been going on for a long time. The Argentinian forward has won eight Ballons d'Or while the Portuguese has been felicitated with the award on five occasions.

Both the players have won their respective continental trophies, with Lionel Messi winning the Copa America twice with Argentina while Cristiano Ronaldo won the Euros and the UEFA Nations League with Portugal. The 2022 FIFA World Cup win, however, gives the 37-year-old Inter Miami star the edge in the trophies count.

In terms of goals, however, the Al-Nassr captain takes the top spot, having recently become the first player in the history of the sport to score 900 goals. Their rivalry has transcended sports, with sportspeople from different sports chiming in with their choice between the two.

In a recent interview, as posted by @AlbicelesteTalk on X, F1 star Lewis Hamilton admitted that he is a fan of the former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain ace.

"Messi or Ronaldo? Messi! They're both amazing to be honest, but I'm a Messi fan in the end," said Hamilton when asked who he prefered out of the two football greats.

The Mercedes driver is a keen follower of the sport, having supported Premier League side Arsenal since the age of six.

Ferrari chairman compares Lewis Hamilton to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo

One of the sport's best drivers, Lewis Hamilton, recently confirmed news of a switch from Mercedes to Ferrari from the 2025 season. The signing is a big coup for the most successful company in Formula One history, with Ferrari chairman John Elkan comparing him to other sporting greats.

The British great has been racing for the last 17 years and his longevity is what has impressed Elkann. In an interview with Bola VIP, Elkann compared him to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo along with tennis greats Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.

"Hamilton and Ferrari have met at the perfect time. He comes to us to win, and with him, we become stronger to face the challenges of the future. Just look at Djokovic, Federer, Hamilton, Ronaldo and Messi. These athletes have overcome physical limitations thanks to enormous willpower," Elkan said.

The 39-year-old started his Formula One career with McLaren back in 2007, becoming the World Drivers' Champion in his second year. His move to Mercedes in 2013 saw him win six more titles, most notably winning four in a row between 2017 and 2020.
