Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has chosen his GOAT pick between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Ronaldo and Maguire played together at Old Trafford for one and a half seasons.

Both Lionel Messi and Ronaldo are widely regarded as two of the best players in the game's history, scoring over 800 goals for club and country and winning big titles and individual honours galore.

Despite being almost 40, both legends are still going strong, having moved away from European football after two decades. However, Maguire reckons his former teammate Ronaldo is the GOAT, also picking the Portugal captain as the best big-game player, as per GOAL USA.

Ronaldo has scored against some of the top teams in the game, especially Lionel Messi's Barcelona, who are often regarded as one of the best club teams in history.

The 39-year-old played 34 games against the Blaugrana for three different teams - with all four of those outings coming while he was with their arch-rivals Real Madrid from 2009 to 2018.

Ronaldo scored 20 times against Messi's former team, also assisting thrice, but won only 15 of 34 games, losing 20. Most of those goals (18) came with Los Blancos, including nine in La Liga, five in the Copa del Rey and four in the Supercopa Espana.

His two goals against Lionel Messi's former team Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League came while he was at Juventus, drawing blanks in two games with Madrid and three with Manchester United.
