Lionel Messi fan Camila Cabello cheers for Cristiano Ronaldo; makes hilarious mistake after fans' response

Camila Cabello put her admiration for Lionel Messi on one side to celebrate Cristiano Ronaldo at a Portuguese concert, but the Cuban singer made a huge mistake. The former Fifth Harmony member had a misunderstanding when the fans chanted 'Siuu' as she thought they were booing.

The 27-year-old touched on Ronaldo's participation at Euro 2024 with Portugal. She said (via Portuguese TV channel SIC Mulher):

"I did hear you had a soccer game yesterday and heard you guys won so I'm just saying maybe I'm Portugal's lucky charm. A fan that I met yesterday told me to say something... Forza Cristiano Ronaldo."

The crowd also chanted 'Siuu,' which is in honor of Ronaldo's trademark celebration and means Yes in Spanish. Cabello didn't understand this:

"Don't boo me because she told me that would win you guys over. But I do actually really like him."

Cabello might like Cristiano Ronaldo but seemingly prefers his longtime rival, Lionel Messi. The 'I LUV IT' singer is one of several celebrities who have attended a Messi game with Inter Miami in MLS since his arrival last summer. She posted an interaction with Argentina's all-time top scorer on her Instagram story in July 2023:

"How much we love you!!! The best player in history and a beautiful person."

The Messi and Ronaldo rivalry has dominated world football since they locked horns in La Liga for Barcelona and Real Madrid. Given the intense debate between the iconic duo, Cabello might need to be wary of upsetting either fanbase.

Cristiano Ronaldo can't escape Lionel Messi despite both legendary forwards leaving European club football. The Al-Nassr superstar captains Portugal at Euro 2024 but was reminded of his longtime nemesis before their opening game.

Czech Republic fans chanted Messi's name ahead of their nation's encounter with Selecao at Red Bull Arena Leipzig. Their shenanigans didn't get under the five-time Ballon d'Or winner's skin as his side won 2-1 (June 18).

Ronaldo, 39, followed that up with an assist in a 3-0 win against Turkiye (June 22). This could be the 2016 European Champion's last major international tournament as he enters the twilight of his career.

Lionel Messi, 37, is also on international duty this summer with Argentina at Copa America in the United States. He's looking to win the competition for the second time after La Abiceleste's FIFA World Cup glory in 2022.
