Lionel Messi, Lamine Yamal and more: Pedri builds his ultimate Barcelona footballer
Barcelona superstar Pedri has selected attributes from Lionel Messi, Lamine Yamal, Andres Iniesta, and others to build his ultimate Barcelona footballer. The Spaniard joined La Blaugrana from Las Palmas in 2019 and has become one of the first names in the teamsheet under current manager Hansi Flick.
Barcelona have been firing on all cylinders this season under their new manager. The German replaced Xavi at the start of the season and has won 12 out of 14 games with the Catalan giants so far. The team currently sits atop the LaLiga table with 30 points in 11 games.
In their last LaLiga game, Hansi Flick's outfit thrashed Real Madrid 4-0 at Santiago Bernabeu - their first win against the domestic rivals in five clashes across competitions.
Prior to that, Hansi Flick's tactics outclassed Vincent Kompany's Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League group stage (October 23). La Blaugrana recorded a statement 4-1 win at home, defeating the Bavarians after nine years.
In a recent interview with ESPN (posted by @ESPNUK) on X, Pedri built the perfect Barca player by combining the best attributes of some club legends. The 21-year-old chose Lionel Messi's left foot, and Andres Iniesta's right foot to start off proceedings.
Intelligence was taken from Xavi while the player got Alejandro Balde's speed. Pedri chose Adama Traore's strength with Lamine Yamal's dribbling prowess. Finally, shooting and heading attributes were taken from Lionel Messi and Luuk de Jong, respectively.
Pedri has been one of the standouts for La Blaugrana this season, amassing three goals and two assists in 14 games across competitions. His ability to control his temperament of the game from the midfield and a penchant for popping up with goals and assists in crunch moments has made him indispensable under Flick.
Thierry Henry compares three stars to Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta, and Ronaldinho after Barcelona's win over Real Madrid
Barcelona's thumping 4-0 win over Real Madrid at the Bernabeu made former Blaugrana forward Thierry Henry wax lyrical about the team. Robert Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal and Raphinha got on the scoresheet on October 29 to break Real Madrid's 42-match unbeaten run in LaLiga at the Bernabeu.
Thierry Henry compared Hansi Flick's side with Pep Guardiola's legendary Barca team, comparing Lamine Yamal, Raphinha and Pedri to Lionel Messi, Ronaldinho and Andreas Iniesta, respectively. He said (via Barca Universal)
"European teams fear Real Madrid and Real Madrid fears Barça. Barcelona has become a team of settling scores. After Bayern, it was Real Madrid’s turn."
The French icon continued:
"Lamine Yamal plays like Lionel Messi, Raphinha like Ronaldinho, and Pedri like Iniesta. It’s like watching the Barcelona of 2011. The team has returned to what it used to be. Nobody will be able to stop them. They will win everything, and any team that stands in their way will suffer the same fate."
Thierry Henry was one of the most feared strikers in Europe during his time in Barca. In 121 games for the Catalan outfit, Henry scored 49 goals and laid out 27 assists. He also won a Champions League, two LaLigas and a FIFA Club World Cup, among others at Barca.
