Lionel Messi's wife Antonela Roccuzo alongside his kids were present at the MetLife Stadium as Argentina beat Canada 2-0 in the 2024 Copa America 2024 semi-final on Tuesday (July 9).
The Argentina skipper netted his side's second goal of the night in the second half. It was Messi's first goal at the ongoing tournament, and his wife and three kids were present in the stands to witness the moment.
Post-game, Anotenela posted on Instagram a picture of her and Messi's sons - Thiago, Mateo and Ciro - celebrating Argentina's progress to the Copa America final with the caption (as translated from Spanish):
"Another final!!! Let's go Argentina!!!"
Antonela and her sons have been big supporters of Lionel Messi and the Argentina national team at Copa America. They will be all out to cheer the team to another victory as they look to defend their Copa America title on July 14 at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
Lionel Messi targets Copa America final triumph to send-off Angel Di Maria in style
Lionel Messi is determined to secure victory in the Copa America 2024 final to ensure that Angel Di Maria's international career ends on a high. Di Maria announced last year that the Copa America 2024 would be his final tournament for Argentina, making Sunday's final his last international match.
Messi and Di Maria have represented Argentina for the last two decades. They have won major honours together, like the Olympic gold medal in 2008, the 2021 Copa America and the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
After Argentina's semifinal victory over Canada on Tuesday (June 10), the Benfica winger disclosed Messi's intentions as he nears the end of his international career. He said (via Mirror.co.uk):
"Today before the match, Leo (Messi) said that they wanted to reach the final for me, and that makes me very proud. To have the chance to achieve everything I've achieved recently with all of them is a source of pride for me."
Argentina face Uruguay or Colombia in the final on Sunday (June 14) at the 65, 326 capacity Hard Rock Stadium in Maimi, Florida, as they look to become the first back-to-back Copa champions since Chile (2015-16).
