Liverpool agree personal terms with 23-year-old star; Premier League club interested in taking him on loan from Reds: Fabrizio Romano

Liverpool have reportedly agreed personal terms with Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili. The Georgian shot-stopper is keen on securing a move to Anfield this summer.

The Merseysiders were close to making their first signing of the summer after agreeing personal terms to sign Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi. However, the Spain international's decision to stay at Real Sociedad in a surprising U-turn spelt the collapse of his reported deal with Liverpool.

Arne Slot's side have now shifted their sights towards a goalkeeper, Valencia's Giorgi Mamardashvili. The 6'6" towering shot-stopper was in excellent form in LaLiga last season. He maintained 13 clean sheets in 37 league starts for Valencia, missing just one league fixture for his side.

He also impressed at the 2024 European Championships, helping Georgia reach the Round of 16. Mamardashvili made 30 saves and maintained one clean sheet at the tournament (via FotMob).

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that the Reds have agreed personal terms with the 23-year-old. Mamardashvili is eager to join the Merseysiders and is willing even to spend a season or two on loan elsewhere to seal the move.

Bournemouth have emerged as a potential destination for such a loan spell and the club are open to signing him. Romano claims that Liverpool's representatives are currently in Valencia discussing a potential move with the club's hierarchy.

While personal terms have been agreed, an agreement with Valencia is yet to be reached.

Roy Keane predicts where Liverpool will finish in the 2024-25 campaign

Manchester United legend Roy Keane has made a shocking prediction for Liverpool's 2024-25 campaign. The pundit believes the Reds will finish outside the top four next season.

The Merseysiders were in excellent form under Jurgen Klopp last season and seemed very much in the title race against Arsenal and Manchester City.

However, a handful of dropped points saw the gap to the top of the table gradually increase. The Reds finished third last term, nine points behind winners Manchester City.

While they prepare for their first campaign under new manager Arne Slot, Keane feels the club could miss out on the Champions League spots if they don't make any signings this summer.

He said on the Stick to Football podcast (via the Daily Mail):

"Yes I think so (Liverpool will miss out), unless they get a couple of signings in the next few weeks."

Slot's men will face Ipswich Town in their opening game of the 2024-25 Premier League season on August 17.
