Liverpool and PSG ready to move for Real Madrid target if Santiago Bernabeu move collapses - Reports
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain are interested in signing Lille centre-back Leny Yoro if his proposed move to Real Madrid falls through. Romano has claimed that Yoro's priority is to join Los Blancos and he won't sign a contract extension - his current contract expires in 2025 - with the Ligue 1 side.
However, the chances of Liverpool or Paris Saint Germain hijacking the deal seem very slim, given the player's desire to join Los Blancos. The 18-year-old Frenchman is among the most highly rated young centre-backs in the world.
Initially, Lille reportedly wanted a transfer fee of around $80 million, but according to Jose Manuel Moreno, Real Madrid are looking to complete a deal for around €25-30 million. The fact that Yoro's contract runs out in 2025 and he has his heart set on a move to the Spanish capital could reportedly play a big role in convincing Lille to settle for a nominal price.
Leny Yoro would provide crucial cover to Real Madrid's defense if he makes the switch to La Liga this summer, especially after the departure of Nacho Fernandez. The center-back can play both as an aggressor and holding the last line, based on the demands of the game.
Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu to host the FIFA World Cup 2030 final
According to Marca, Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu will host the 2030 FIFA World Cup final. The tournament will be jointly hosted by Portugal, Morocco, and Spain and the final list of stadiums for the matches will be made available by July 31.
The 2030 edition will also mark the 100th anniversary of the FIFA World Cup with the first-ever tournament being organized in 1930. To commemorate the special occasion, some initial matches will be held in Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay. After the conclusion of those games, the event will shift to the main host countries.
The friendly relationships between FIFA and the Spanish Football Federation have reportedly culminated in Santiago Bernabeu being nominated to host the World Cup final.
Furthermore, Santiago Bernabeu recently underwent a massive renovation project that cost a whopping $1.91 billion, with work starting in 2019 and continuing until 2024. The new model features include a state-of-the-art retractable turf, retractable roof, improved seating area and galleries, and a 360-degree video scoreboard.
