Liverpool ready to make ‘strong offer’ to sign England U21 international valued at €100 million as Mohamed Salah replacement: Reports

Liverpool are reportedly planning for life after Mohamed Salah, and they have identified England youth international Jamie Bynoe-Gittens as a target to replace the Egyptian. The Borussia Dortmund youngster has had a sterling start to the 2024-25 season following the arrival of Nuri Sahin at the Signal Iduna Park.

Club legend Salah is in the final year of his contract with the Reds, and there have been rumors that he will consider his future at the end of the season. With his exit being a distinct possibility at this point, the club has begun to make succession plans.

Borussia Dortmund youngster Jamie Bynoe-Gittens has been in fine form this campaign, scoring in the Bundesliga and the UEFA Champions League for his side. Still only 20 years old, the Reds are prepared to make a strong offer for the England U-21 international as their replacement for Salah, as per Bild.

The German publication puts Bynoe-Gittens' value at around €35 million, but expects Borussia Dortmund to slap a price tag of around €100 million on him, to deter suitors. The youngster has drawn parallels to Jadon Sancho with his career path, having also come through the Manchester City academy. He left for Germany in 2020, joining the Borussia Dortmund setup before earning a promotion to the first-team in 2022.

A direct, pacey winger, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens has four goals and two assists in 10 appearances across all competitions for Borussia Dortmund. The talented youngster is one of the options being considered as a Mohamed Salah replacement and could move in the near future. Salah has huge shoes at Liverpool, and whoever replaces him will have their work cut out.

Liverpool boss praises Mohamed Salah for role in win over Chelsea

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has praised forward Mohamed Salah for the part he played in his side's 2-1 win over Chelsea at Anfield on Sunday (October 20). The Egyptian forward scored one and created the other for the Reds as they retained top spot in the league with a win.

The Reds were forced to defend a lot more against a fearless Chelsea side that took the game to them. Salah put on a defensive shift, as a result, to keep Jadon Sancho quiet down Chelsea's left flank. His efforts did not go unnoticed, with Slot comparing him with a right-back in his press conference after the game.

“I said to Trent: you have some competition now, because I saw that Mo Salah can play as a right full-back as well!," Slot said.
“The defensive effort he put in today to help the team in that part is what pleased me just as much as his goal and assist."

Mohamed Salah made six recoveries in the game, as well as two defensive actions and an interception for Liverpool. He won 50% of the duels he contested, showing that he was not afraid to get stuck in during the game. The 32-year-old has five goals and five assists in eight Premier League games this season.
