Liverpool star considering future ahead of a potential summer exit: Reports
According to reports from TeamTALK, Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker is considering his future at the club, with a departure potentially on the horizon. The Brazilian shot stopper's name has cropped up in transfer rumors, linking him with a move away from Anfield.
Alisson joined Liverpool from Italian side AS Roma for a reported €62 million fee in July 2018. Since then, he has established himself as the Reds' undisputed number one and arguably as one of the best goalkeepers in world football.
The 31-year-old has kept a staggering 117 clean sheets in 269 appearances across all competitions. Although he has started every Premier League game bar one (due to injury) this season, he is reportedly unhappy with the club due to their transfer activity.
Liverpool signed Valencia keeper Giorgi Mamardashvili in the summer for a reported €30 million after his unbelievable performances at EURO 2024. The 24-year-old Georgian was sent back on loan to Valencia for the 2024-25 campaign. He will likely be in contention for a starting spot at Anfield next season.
This move has supposedly antagonized Alisson, who has three years left on his contract at the club. He could potentially seek a move away next summer, with Bayern Munich interested in bringing him in as a replacement for veteran Manuel Neuer.
Liverpool superstars Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Virgil van Dijk are currently in the last year of their contract. If they choose to depart the club, a potential squad overhaul could be on the cards after manager Arne Slot's first season in charge.
"We are committed to that" - Despite being linked with potential departure, Alisson reaffirms commitment to Arne Slot's plans at Liverpool
Despite being linked with a move away from Liverpool, goalkeeper Alisson has re-asserted his commitment to manager Arne Slot's plans at the club.
Slot is enjoying a dream start to his Anfield career, with seven wins and just one loss in eight games across competitions. His side have been firing on all cylinders offensively and defensively, scoring 20 goals and conceding just four.
Speaking to Joe Hart on BBC Sport, Alisson claimed that the Dutchman is 'improving' the entire squad and their style of play. The 31-year-old said (via This is Anfield):
"I'm finding (working with Slot) fantastic because we see that he wants to improve the players and doing that, he is improving the team. Arne is bringing to us his new energy. He's bringing us not only energy but knowledge, his knowledge on football. He is a really smart manager, really smart head coach and he is helping us a lot."
"We are committed to the plan, we are seeing that it is a good plan. I'm really happy on the direction that everything is going. We have to keep pushing. We still have a lot of things to improve as a team, as individuals as well, but we are in the right direction," Alisson added.
Alisson will likely be next seen in action in Liverpool's upcoming UEFA Champions League fixture against Bologna at Anfield on October 2.
