Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah names Cristiano Ronaldo's iconic 'siu' as his favorite celebration
Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has named Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic ‘siu’ as his favorite celebration. They are regarded as two of the most prolific strikers in football, having scored countless goals throughout their careers.
Ronaldo is the record goalscorer in men’s football with over 900 goals scored for club and country. The Portuguese icon currently plies his trade with Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia and has posted 10 goals and three assists in 15 games this season.
Salah, on the other hand, has developed into one of the most lethal finishers in Europe since his move to Liverpool in 2017. The Egyptian winger has registered 221 goals and 99 assists in 366 games for the Reds. This term, he has 10 goals and 10 assists in 17 games across competitions.
In a video posted by The CR7 Timeline on X, Salah was asked in a recent interview about his favorite goal celebration, to which he replied:
“Cristiano, Siu, I like it a lot."
Cristiano Ronaldo's iconic 'siu' celebration has become one of the most popular goal celebrations in football. This trademark celebration has also been adopted by athletes in various sports during moments of success or achievement.
Mohamed Salah is also known for his unique goal celebrations when he scores. Some of his notable goal celebration styles include a yoga pose or pointing to the sky. He has yet to replicate Ronaldo's 'siu' despite claiming it is his favorite. This season, the 32-year-old has mostly celebrated with the bow and arrow gesture whenever he scores.
Ronaldo and Salah have faced each other six times, with the Portuguese being on the winning side in five of those encounters. The most notable being Real Madrid’s 3-1 victory over Liverpool in the 2017-18 Champions League final.
When Mohamed Salah made his pick in the GOAT debate between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo
Mohamed Salah once made his pick in the never-ending Greatest of All Time (GOAT) debate between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. The Liverpool star in March this year chose the Argentine legend over his Portuguese rival.
When asked to pick between the two superstars, Salah said (via Barca Worldwide on):
“Messi, it’s not a debate anymore”
Salah is in the final months of his contract at Liverpool, which will expire next summer. The Egyptian has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia where Cristiano Ronaldo currently plays with Al-Nassr.
It remains to be seen if he’ll pen a contract extension at Anfield or move to a new club at the expiration of his contract.
