Luis Figo or Cristiano Ronaldo? Ex-Portugal star Rafa Silva names his favorite Selecao player of all time

Former Portugal international Rafa Silva has chosen Luis Figo above Cristiano Ronaldo as his favorite Portuguese player of all time. The Besiktas forward stated that Figo was his childhood idol and made him fall in love with football.

In a "This or That' series challenge by Besiktas, the 31-year-old was asked to choose between some notable Portuguese stars. Silva picked Figo above players like Nani, Ricardo Quaresma, Deco, Eusebio, and even Ronaldo.

Rafa Silva represented Portugal between 2014 and 2021, making a total of 25 appearances for his nation before retiring in 2022 due to personal reasons. During this period, he shared the pitch with Ronaldo, winning the 2016 European Champions and 2019 UEFA Nations League alongside the Portuguese icon.

Rafa Silva is still active at club level. He joined Besiktas this summer from Benfica after spending eight years at the Portuguese club. Silva signed a three-year contract with the Turkish club and has contributed four goals and three assists in 11 games across competitions.

Cristiano Ronaldo earns call-up for Portugal's UEFA Nations League fixtures

Cristiano Ronaldo has been included by coach Roberto Martinez in Portugal's squad for their upcoming UEFA Nations League matches. A Seleção are scheduled to face Poland and Scotland on October 12 and 15, respectively.

The Al-Nassr ace has been in fine form for his club recently and has shown no signs of slowing down. In the last international break, Ronaldo scored in Portugal's games versus Croatia and Scotland as they won both games by a 2-1 scoreline. His goal against Croatia made him the first men's player to score 900 career goals for club and country.

Since then, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner has increased his career total to 904. He will be hoping to increase his goal tally and lead Portugal to victory in their upcoming Nations League games. However, before reporting for national team duties, Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to lead the line for Al-Nassr against Al-Orobah in the Saudi Pro League on Saturday, October 5.
