Manchester City set for £83m battle with Real Madrid for 21-year-old Bundesliga sensation: Reports

According to a report by David Ornstein via Football 365, Manchester City are set to battle Real Madrid for the services of Bayer Leverkusen's 21-year-old sensation Florian Wirtz. The German forward has been sensational for his boyhood club and played a key role in the team's Bundesliga triumph last season.

Wirtz was sensational during the last campaign for his side, scoring 18 times and providing 20 assists in 49 games to help his side to an invincible domestic campaign. He has continued his fine form this season, with seven goals and one assist in 1057 minutes across 15 appearances.

The German's fine performances have seen him linked with a move away from the Bundesliga in the coming transfer windows with Real Madrid and Manchester City keeping tabs on him. With the champions of England and Spain circling, the talented forward will have a decision to make about his future should a bid materialize.

Real Madrid consider shock move for Manchester City midfielder

According to a report by Relevo via the One Football app, Real Madrid are considering a shock move for Manchester City midfielder Rodri. The potential move for the midfielder will come as a shock after the Spanish giant's reaction to the Euro 2024 winner's Ballon d'Or win.

Rodri began his career in Los Blanco's fierce cross-town rivals, Atletico Madrid's youth team before joining Villareal on a free transfer in 2013. He returned to the Spanish capital in 2019 for a reported €20 million fee before joining City a year later reportedly for €70 million.

The 28-year-old has been phenomenal since he joined the reigning English Champions in 2019 as the successor to Fernandinho and has helped the side to the title in four consecutive seasons. The defensive midfielder has played 260 games for Pep Guardiola's side, scoring 26 times and providing 30 assists.

Rodri's contract with Manchester City runs until the summer of 2027 and it is unlikely that the English powerhouse open negotiations with Real Madrid for his sale. The Euro 2024 winner is currently injured for the rest of the season after he picked up an ACL injury earlier in the campaign.
