Manchester City set stunning price tag on Arsenal and Atletico Madrid target - Reports

Manchester City have reportedly set the price tag on Julian Alvarez as he seeks a move away from the club in search of regular playing time. The Cityzens want £70 million plus add-ons for the Argentinian forward.

The 24-year-old arrived on English shores in 2022 from River Plate. Alvarez's record at City so far has been nothing short of phenomenal as he won the treble with the club in 2023. Furthermore, he has managed to win two Premier League titles, apart from the World Cup and the Copa America.

He played the most games for Manchester City last season. Playing second fiddle to talisman Erling Haaland, Alvarez managed 19 goals and 13 assists in 54 appearances across all competitions last season.

However, he's played as cover for the Norwegian and reports suggest that he's seeking more regular playing time. According to a report by tbrfootball, Alvarez has attracted interest from Arsenal and Atletico Madrid.

The Gunners were in pole position to lift the Premier League crown last season. However, their hunt for their first league title in over two decades continues as they lost the battle for the crown on the final matchday of the season.

Be that as it may, Mikel Arteta, who came under the microscope for his signing of former Chelsea forward Kai Havertz, redeemed himself as the German found his rhythm in the latter half of the season. He scored 14 goals across 51 games last season.

Arteta, however, is keen on bolstering his squad to compete for the title yet again and has his eyes set on the World Cup winner. Atletico Madrid, on the flip side, are interested in signing several Premier League players, with Chelsea's Conor Gallagher also on their list.

However, the report also states that neither club would be willing to enter a bidding war for the Argentinian given his exorbitantly high price tag. It's safe to say that Manchester City will drive a hard bargain over letting Alvarez leave the club.

Manchester City became the first team to lift four consecutive Premier League titles

Pep Guardiola's men have been unshakeable in the last few years. Winning six Premier League titles in the last seven years goes on to show how dominant they have been.

Despite a few lacklustre performances here and there last season, the Cityzens managed to finish the season with yet another PL title. This was their fourth consecutive title, making them the only English team to have ever achieved that feat.

Manchester City will be eyeing their fifth PL crown next season. While having Alvarez around adds much-needed depth to their squad, Guardiola has shown that he trusts himself with the squad at his disposal.
