Manchester City star set to reject Saudi Pro League offer to compete with Lionel Messi in MLS: Reports
Manchester City star Kevin de Bruyne is currently in talks with San Diego FC about a potential future move, as per GIVEMESPORT. The Belgian reportedly prefers a move to the MLS over the Saudi Pro League.
Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Jordi Alba, and Sergio Busquets are some of the big names in the MLS at the moment. That could be a reason why the midfielder would rather move to the United States if he leaves the Premier League champions.
De Bruyne's contract with Manchester City will expire next summer. As a result, Saudi clubs Al-Nassr, Al-Ahli, and Al-Qadsiah have expressed interest in signing the Belgian. As per the aforementioned report, San Diego have offered the 33-year-old an annual salary of $20 million.
The Belgian midfielder joined Manchester City in August 2015 from Bundesliga side Wolfsburg. Since then, he has become a key part of Pep Guardiola's lineup, making 388 appearances across competitions, bagging 103 goals and 171 assists.
San Diego will play their inaugural MLS campaign in 2025, becoming the 30th club in the league. Head coach Mikey Varas is aiming to fill all the first-team spots before the pre-season matches in January 2025.
However, a move for Kevin de Bruyne in the winter is highly unlikely, as he's currently a part of Guardiola's starting line-up. Additionally, he could also sign an extension with the Premier League giants.
