Manchester City star set to sign new contract following transfer U-turn: Reports

Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson is reportedly set to extend his contract with the Cityzens. The Brazilian shot-stopper was linked with an exit from the Premier League side this summer, with Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr reportedly interested in his services.

Ederson joined Manchester City from Benfica in the summer of 2017 for a reported €40 million fee. Since he arrived at the Etihad, he has etched his name into the club's history books and established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

In the summer transfer window, Ederson was linked with a move to Saudi Pro League clubs. Reports also claimed that Ederson was moving to Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr. His departure from the Etihad looked so imminent at the time that City were already considering Gianluigi Donnarumma as a potential replacement.

However, in a dramatic turn of events, Ederson decided to continue his career at the Etihad after he and his family took a joint decision to remain at the Premier League club.

The 31-year-old has started all six of City's Premier League games in the ongoing season. Despite having two years left on his contract, City are poised to secure the goalkeeper’s long-term future amid interest from the Middle East.

According to Tribal Football, Manchester City are in talks with Ederson over signing a new contract, which will keep him at the club until 2027. Negotiations about the deal are now in an advanced stage, and the Cityzens are confident of reaching an agreement.

In Ederson’s seven-year stay at City, he has kept 157 clean sheets and conceded 264 goals in 340 matches across competitions.
