Manchester United dressing room’s feelings towards Erik ten Hag come to light amid Red Devils’ worrying run of form: Reports
According to a report by the Daily Mail, the players in the Manchester United squad back Erik ten Hag but believe his days are numbered at the club due to their worrying run of form. The Red Devils have picked up from where they left off last season and have been shocking in the recent campaign despite a cash injection from new part owners INEOS.
The 20-time English champions sit in 13th place after six games with two wins, one draw, and three losses with a three-goal deficit in the goal difference column. The Dutch manager looks to be running out of any goodwill he garnered from his FA Cup win at the end of the previous campaign, with the team's performances and current results leaving much to be desired.
Erik ten Hag faces a pivotal month in his career as Manchester United manager and will have to prove himself in the next few games if he hopes to remain at Old Trafford. He leads his side out on the road to FC Porto and an ascendant Aston Villa side in the Europa and Premier League, respectively.
Erik ten Hag is confident of remaining in charge of Manchester United
Underfire Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag remains confident of staying in charge of the English giants despite his poor start to the campaign this season. The performances from the Old Trafford-based side have left a lot to be desired by supporters while delighting rivals this season.
The 20-time champions of the English game have only managed a five-goal return while conceding eight in six league games this season.
Erik ten Hag has said he has the support of the board and players despite his struggles to get the team to perform on the pitch. He told the press after his recent 3-0 home loss to Tottenham Hotspur via SPORTbible:
"No, I am not thinking about this. We all made together this decision to stay together, as an ownership, a leadership group in the summer, also we made the decision from a clear review what we have to improve and how we want to construct a squad.
"But we knew it will take some time, how the window went, some players late in like Ugarte. Also, we have to make some improvement in organisation, some injuries, we need some time. We are all on one page or in one boat together, the ownership, the staff and the players as well. I don't have that concern."
Regardless of what the Dutchman says to the press publicly, he will see the sword of Damocles hovering over his head. The Manchester United manager will be keen to see his side's fortunes improve in the coming games.
