Manchester United legend David Beckham's son Romeo Beckham has announced his retirement from football at the age of 22. The former Brentford right-winger has decided to follow in the footsteps of his mother Victoria Beckham and make a career in fashion.
Romeo Beckham started his footballing journey with Arsenal's youth side in 2015 before joining Inter Miami's academy in 2021. He spent two years with the Herons in their reserve team before joining Brentford's B team in the summer of 2023.
The 22-year-old had a flair for fashion since his childhood. Aged just 10, he featured in a Burberry Kids campaign and was voted Britain's 26th Best-Dressed Man in 2011. In 2021, he signed a whopping £1.2million deal with Puma to be the face of their brand. Additionally, Romeo Beckham was the cover model of L'Uomo Vogue in 2021 and has also worked for Yves Saint Laurent as a model.
According to a report by The Sun, Romeo Beckham recently signed a lucrative deal with a top fashion agent in Paris Safe Management.
The report further stated that Romeo loved playing for Brentford, but chose to devote his entire time to fashion - a career path he was passionate about. However, David Beckham's son still wants to continue working with Brentford Penguins, a team dedicated to players with Down Syndrome.

On September 1, 2024, Romeo Beckham celebrated his 22nd birthday, and his parents shared heartwarming messages for their son on social media. Romeo Beckham is the second eldest child in the Beckham household.
Sharing a photo of little Romeo in a pair of suave sunglasses on his birthday, David Beckham wrote:
"Happy 22nd Birthday to my beautiful boy... We are so proud of the man you have turned into , kind , passionate and hard working... Have the most amazing day because you deserve it... Love you mate so much."
Victoria Beckham also took to Instagram and shared a string of photos of the Beckham household. She captioned it:
"Happy birthday roromeobeckham. We all love you so much.Kind,talented and passionate.Beautiful both inside and out! You are about to begin an exciting new chapter and we couldn’t more excited for you!!!You are our everything."
Romeo Beckham isn't the only Beckham child who tried his luck in professional football. David Beckham's eldest son Brooklyn was in the Arsenal academy but left in 2015 after not receiving a scholarship offer. The 25-year-old is currently into modeling and photography.
