Manchester United line up two alternatives for Manuel Ugarte as deal for PSG star stalls - Reports
Manchester United reportedly view Sander Berge and Sofyan Amrabat as alternate midfield targets if they fail to sign PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte this summer. The Red Devils are keen on adding another midfielder to their squad before the transfer window closes at the end of August.
Ugarte has been the first-choice target for the Red Devils in midfield this summer as they intend to add versatility and depth in the middle of the park. United have an agreement in place with the Uruguay international on personal terms, but haven't yet found an agreement on a fee with PSG.
Fabrizio Romano has reported that if PSG's asking price for Ugarte doesn't drop, Manchester United have two cheaper options on their list, Burnley's Sander Berge and Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.
Erik ten Hag's side are reportedly prepared to sanction the sales of Christian Eriksen and Scott McTominay, potentially creating room for the addition of new faces.
Berge has emerged as a target for the Red Devils after an impressive campaign with Burnley in the 2023-24 season. The 26-year-old Norway international featured in 37 games in the Premier League for the Clarets, scoring once and providing two assists for the side as they were relegated.
Morocco international Sofyan Amrabat was on the books of Manchester United in the 2023-24 season on loan from Fiorentina. He failed to convince the Red Devils to trigger the buy option in his deal, but has re-emerged as a target for the club.
Manchester United will try to negotiate a fee lower than the €60 million quoted by PSG for Ugarte. If they are unable to do so, they will then look to sign a cheaper midfielder to add depth to their squad.
Manchester United star nearing Bundesliga return - Reports
Manchester United forward Jadon Sancho is closing in on a return to Germany with Borussia Dortmund this summer, as per Fichajes. The England international is expected to leave Old Trafford this summer, despite apparently rebuilding bridges at the club.
Sancho had a falling out with manager Erik ten Hag at the start of the 2023-24 season, which resulted in him being frozen out. He eventually left the club to join Borussia Dortmund on loan in January, helping his former side reach the UEFA Champions League final.
The 24-year-old forward featured for the Red Devils in pre-season and appeared in the Community Shield, where he missed his penalty during the shootout. He was left out of the squad for their league opener against Fulham, sparking rumors of an exit.
Sancho has reportedly attracted interest from Juventus and PSG this window, but Borussia Dortmund are said to be in advanced talks for his return. The Englishman will be happy to return to Germany, where he has enjoyed the best spell of his career so far.
