Manchester United plotting move for £90m-rated Serie A star as Ruben Amorim seeks squad revamp: Reports

According to a report on Caught Offside, Manchester United are looking to sign Khvicha Kvaratskhelia for Ruben Amorim as the Portuguese manager hopes to revamp the squad. The Georgian star has been fabulous for Napoli in Serie A and is reportedly valued at £90 million.

Kvaratskhelia joined the Neopolitan side in the summer of 2022 from Dinamo Batumi for a reported €13.3 million fee. He has gone on to make 100 appearances for the club and score 30 goals while setting up 28 others to help the side to the 2022-23 Scudetto title.

The Georgian is expected to come in as a replacement for Antony in the Manchester United team. The Brazilian has been an unprecedented failure for the Red Devils since he arrived from Ajax for a reported €95 million fee in 2022. He has played 87 times and scored 12 goals and set up five others.

The Brazilian will be expected to leave the club sooner rather than later, following the dismissal of Erik ten Hag and the appointment of Ruben Amorim.

"He plays far more with people in between the pockets, which [the likes of Bruno] are suited to" - Former Manchester United coach tips Bruno Fernandes to thrive under Ruben Amorim

Former Manchester United coach Rene Meulensteen has tipped Bruno Fernandes to shine under incoming manager Ruben Amorim. The Red Devils captain has been poor in this campaign but recently rediscovered his scoring touch in the last match after Erik ten Hag's dismissal.

Fernandes like the incoming Amorim swapped Sporting Club de Portugal for the English giants and has gone on to ingrain himself as a key part of the setup at Old Trafford.

Meulensteen believes that the shared history between the two will help them work together well, telling Stats Perform via FotMob:

"Obviously, they're both Portuguese, so that helps them in terms of speaking in their native language. It's going to be interesting. The way that he sets up his teams, he doesn't play with out-and-out wingers. He plays far more with people in between the pockets, which [the likes of Bruno] are suited to. As soon as he steps over that line and steps through the door, we will see very, very quickly how he's going to shape up the team."

Manchester United will hope Ruben Amorim can bring back the glory days when he takes charge of the club on November 11. The Red Devils currently sit in the bottom half of the Premier League table and will be keen to improve their performances heading into the business half of the Premier League season.
