Manchester United receive boost in defender chase as Premier League side eye Real Madrid star as replacement - Reports
Manchester United could reportedly be closer to signing Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez. This comes after a report from The Athletic claiming that the Cherries are interested in signing Real Madrid left-back Fran Garcia.
The move for the Spaniard may mean that the Premier League side are willing to let go of the Hungarian. A report from Football Transfers claimed that the Red Devils have him as their number-one target for the position, while Chelsea and Arsenal have also expressed interest.
However, the Gunners look close to signing Bologna's Riccardo Calafiori, while the Blues have already completed a move for Portuguese talent Renato Veiga. Thus, the route for Manchester United to pursue Kerkez has become clear. Having said that, Bournemouth have reportedly placed a high price tag on the player as they are keen on making a sizeable profit on the €18 million they spent on him to sign him from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar.
The 20-year-old was a solid performer for Andoni Iraola's side last season. He made 33 appearances, bagging one assist and could be a solid backup option to Luke Shaw, who has struggled to find regular fitness.
For Bournemouth, signing Garcia would be a reunion between player and manager as the pair worked together previously at Real Valladolid. Real Madrid triggered a buy-back clause in his deal last summer but he struggled to make an impact, falling behind Ferland Mendy in the pecking order. He made 31 appearances (13 off the bench), bagging one goal and six assists and could be an adequate replacement for the Hungarian.
Manchester United outcast expected to leave the club soon in loan deal
Jadon Sancho is expected to leave Manchester United on loan for the second campaign in a row. According to GiveMeSport, the winger has caught the eye of Juventus, who are keen on securing a temporary deal for him.
This comes after a report from Fabrizio Romano that the Bianconeri are looking to sell Federico Chiesa in the summer. Sancho could take up the Italian's role in the squad as the Turin side prepare for life under new manager Thiago Motta.
The 24-year-old has a strained relationship with Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag. The pair had a public disagreement over his performances in training, which led to him being virtually frozen out of the squad for the first half of the 2023-24 campaign. He spent the second half on loan at Borussia Dortmund, bagging three goals and three assists in 21 appearances.
