Manchester United receives injury boost as star player returns to training

Manchester United have been handed a massive boost as Marcus Rashford returns to training ahead of their Premier League clash against Chelsea on Thursday, May 25.

Rashford has been United's most prolific player in front of goal this season. He has scored 16 goals and provided five assists in 33 Premier League games this term.

The England international has missed the last two league games against Bournemouth and Wolverhampton Wanderers due to injury and illness. The Red Devils, however, picked up wins in both of those games.

Manchester United released a statement revealing the return of Marcus Rashford. The statement read as follows (via the club's website):

"Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has trained on Tuesday, ahead of our Premier League clash with Chelsea. Our no.10 has missed the recent victories against Wolves and Bournemouth but has been pictured out on the pitch at Carrington, ahead of our encounter with the Blues on Thursday night."

It is worth mentioning that Rashford trained last week as well ahead of their game against Bournemouth after missing the game against Wolves. The 25-year-old forward, however, then picked up an illness, which prevented him to participate at the weekend.

Erik ten Hag's side will want their star forward to attain full fitness for the last few games of the season.

As things stand, United have two games left in the Premier League. They take on Chelsea on Thursday before facing Fulham at Old Trafford on the final day of the Premier League season. The Red Devils need just one point from two games to cement their place in the top four and qualify for next season's UEFA Champions League.

Manchester United will then play the FA Cup final against rivals Manchester City at Wembley Stadium on June 3.

Marcus Rashford is one strike away from reaching 30 goals this season for Manchester United

Marcus Rashford has enjoyed a stellar season for Manchester United. He is approaching 30 goals across all competitions. At the time of writing, Rashford has netted 29 goals and provided 11 assists.

According to the Manchester Evening News, should he net one more goal, Marcus Rashford will become the first Manchester United player since Robin van Persie in 2013 to score 30 goals in a single season.

Based on his current form, Rashford should be given a new contract sooner rather than later. The England star currently has just one year remaining on his current contract.
