Manchester United star linked with a January move to Serie A giants: Reports
Manchester United central defender Victor Lindelof has been linked with a move to Serie A giants AC Milan in the January transfer window, according to Caught Offside. The Swedish centre-back runs out of his existing contract in the summer of 2025, and United are not very keen on offering him an extension.
Lindelof arrived at Manchester United from Benfica in Portugal in 2017, and was rated extremely highly by then-manager Jose Mourinho. He was often seen forming a storied centre-half partnership alongside Ivory Coast's Eric Bailly, who has since moved on to Villarreal in Spain.
Lindelof has made a total of 266 appearances for United so far, and it appears as if Milan will be keen on snapping him up in the January transfer window. The 30-year-old becomes a free agent in the summer and this has naturally garnered a lot of interest from various top clubs in Europe.
CaughtOffside have also reported that alongside Manchester United's Lindelof, Milan are closely monitoring Arsenal's Jakub Kiwior as a potential signing. However, if the Swede is willing to move to Italy, he would be their first choice as he can offer them a lot of versatility, and slot in at right-back as well.
Victor Lindelof has made just 7 appearances for Manchester United this season
Victor Lindelof has made seven appearances for Manchester United this season, with four of them coming in the Premier League, two in the Europa League and one in the EFL Cup.
The arrival of Matthijs de Ligt at United this summer has further shadowed Lindelof's presence as a mainstay in their defense. The likes of Lisandro Martinez, Jonny Evans and Harry Maguire were favored by former head coach Erik ten Hag to partner alongside de Ligt in the heart of United's defense.
However, the arrival of Ruben Amorim as the new head coach might shake things up, and Lindelof may even find a second wind to his career. The Portuguese is known to play with a back three. It remains to be seen how he applies that to Manchester United when he first takes charge of them against Ipswich Town on November 24.
