Manchester United star Luke Shaw names Arsenal man as the best current player in the Premier League

Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw has termed Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard the best player in the Premier League currently. He also called former United gaffer Sir Alex Ferguson as the best manager in Premier League history.

The Norwegian midfielder has cemented himself as one of the most crucial elements of Arsenal's squad over the last few years. More so ever since he took over as the captain of the club ahead of the 2022-23 season following Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's departure.

Here's the video where Shaw terms Odegaard the best player in the Premier League currently:

The 24-year-old arrived at the Emirates from Real Madrid initially on loan in January 2021, but his move was made permanent in August. He joined the Gunners for a reported fee of €40 million.

The Norwegian's ability to distribute the ball, coupled with his vision and penchant for scoring goals, has allowed Arsenal to become a force to be reckoned with in the last two seasons.

Odegaard made 45 appearances for the Gunners in 2022-23, scored 15 goals and managed seven assists. Last season, the Norwegian was one of the few players who played the most minutes for the north London outfit. He scored 11 goals and managed as many assists in 48 games across all competitions.

Arsenal come close to lifting the Premier League title for the second time

The Gunners finished second in the 2022-23 season. However, they were once poised to lift the trophy after having led the points table for over 200 days.

While they couldn't manage the Premier League crown, they secured Champions League qualification for the first time in six years after finishing in the top four.

Mikel Arteta's men were eliminated by Bayern Munich following a 2-3 aggregate defeat in the quarter-finals of the European competition earlier this year.

Moreover, the north London outfit took the title race to the last matchday of the 2023-24 season. But their 2-1 win against Everton wasn't enough to secure their first Premier League crown in over two decades.

As for the Cityzens, they were crowned champions for the fourth consecutive time after defeating West Ham United 3-1. They have now won the Premier League six times in the last seven years.
