Manchester United star Rasmus Hojlund makes feelings clear on Ten Hag continuing as manager at Old Trafford amid Euro 2024
Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund has claimed he is very happy with Erik ten Hag and has termed the Dutchman as a very good coach. Hojlund has further expressed his ambitions to play better next season and win more trophies.
The Red Devils suffered a poor season in 2023-24. Although they won the FA Cup, United finished eighth in the Premier League, their worst of the Premier League era. They were also knocked out of the UEFA Champions League group stages.
Hojlund finished his first season at Old Trafford with 16 goals and two assists in 43 appearances across competitions. The former Atalanta star has now endorsed Ten Hag. He told Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg (via SportBIBLE):
"He's a very good coach and I loved working with him this year. I want to become even better and score even more goals. Hopefully we can win another trophy."
Erik ten Hag is set to stay as the Manchester United manager despite an underwhelming season last term. The consensus is that the team lost momentum after enjoying a good season under Ten Hag in 2022-23.
The Dutchman will look to bring the club back on track. However, given United's status, he is certain to be under constant scrutiny.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe has refused to blame Erik ten Hag for Manchester United's poor form
While Erik ten Hag has borne the brunt of criticism for Manchester United's lack of form, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, however, has refused to blame the Dutchman for the club's downgrade.
He pointed out that since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement, several top-class managers have failed to achieve success at Old Trafford. Hence, the root of the problem is much more deep, as per the British billionaire. He said at Times CEO summit (SportBIBLE):
"But if you look at the last 11 seasons at Manchester United we've had a whole series of coaches, some of them are very good ones, we've probably had seven coaches and none of them succeeded at all."
Ratcliffe emphasized the environment is the root of the problem and that changing it would be a more efficient way than changing managers rapidly. Hence, the club have decided to put their trust in Ten Hag for next season.
