Manchester United star uncertain about his future at Old Trafford after being deemed 'not adequate' by new head coach Ruben Amorim: Reports

Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee is uncertain about his future at Old Trafford after reports from The Mirror suggested that new head coach Ruben Amorim has deemed him 'not adequate.' The Portuguese coach is keen on bringing his Sporting CP forward Viktor Gyokeres to Old Trafford instead.

Zirkzee arrived at Manchester United in the summer earlier this year from Bologna and has found the back of the net on just one occasion in the EPL. Despite being billed as a top striker, Zirkzee has started on just four occasions for United in the Premier League, and has made rest of his appearances off the bench.

The Dutchman, who also played for Bayern Munich in the past, has not hit the ground running at Old Trafford, and Amorim's arrival might just precipitate his departure elsewhere. The Mirror also reported that Zirkzee has been linked with a loan move to Juventus in the January transfer window.

Zirkzee was expected to partner Rasmus Hojlund in United's attacking lineup this season, but unfortunately, the 23-year-old has not been able to find his form. Reports from Italy suggest that Juventus are quite keen on bringing him to the club since his wages are not entirely out of their reach.

Former Arsenal legend Ian Wright was critical of Manchester United's Joshua Zirkzee

One of the pundits who was critical of Zirkzee in the past was former Arsenal player Ian Wright. The Englishman has been critical of Zirkzee's performances and often mentioned that he does not see anything in him that makes him appreciate the latter.

"Do you know something? When I look at the strikers at Manchester United, I look at [Rasmus] Hojlund and Zirkzee. Going forward, as a United player to take the club to the level they need to be – top-four, Champions League, title challengers – I can’t see in any formation Zirkzee making it from what I’ve seen so far," Wright had said earlier via Mirror.
"I can see it with Hojlund, he looks like a future player with better players around him. He gives me the impression that if he gets in and around the box and he gets chances, he can go hot. I don’t see the same with Zirkzee. I look at him and his movement, I don’t see anything in his game that makes me think, 'Okay, there he is, I see what he can do'. I see that in Hojlund and some of the others. I can see them easily levelling up but I feel for Zirkzee," he added.

Manchester United are ranked in the 13th position of the EPL table at the moment and have just 15 points inside their kitty. They will lock horns with Ipswich Town away from home on their return to Premier League action on November 24.
