Manchester United suffer blow as star player is ruled out for 3 months - Reports

Manchester United have been dealt a huge blow with summer signing Leny Yoro set to miss three months of action, as reported by journalist Ben Jacobs. The Frenchman suffered a foot injury in pre-season against Arsenal and was taken off in the first half.

It was one of two setbacks suffered by the Red Devils as Rasmus Hojlund is also set to miss time with a hamstring injury. The Denmark international is expected to be out for six weeks.

Yoro, one of European football's most highly-touted prospects, joined Manchester United this summer from Lille for a reported €62 million. He impressed for the Ligue 1 side last season, commanding the attention of top clubs including Real Madrid.

Yoro played 35 minutes in the clash against Arsenal before being subbed off. Later, pictures of him walking with crutches emerged, causing worry to United fans.

Central defense was a cause of concern for Erik ten Hag last season as the Dutchman was forced to employ 14 different centre-back combinations. A slew of injuries to the likes of Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane meant the side struggled to field a regular pairing throughout the season.

Manchester United have kept their options open and may resume their pursuit of Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt. According to GiveMeSport, the Red Devils are looking for options after summer signing Leny Yoro suffered an injury in pre-season.

The Frenchman is set to be out of action for three months, putting the side in a spot of bother. Thus, they are looking to enter into negotiations for the Dutchman. He is reportedly keen on making the switch to the Premier League after falling down the pecking order last campaign, with the likes of Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae preferred over him.

De Ligt is under contract for the next three years with Bayern Munich after having joined them from Juventus in the summer of 2022. He made 30 appearances for Thomas Tuchel's side last season, scoring twice and setting up one more.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reported that Manchester United may have to pay around £42 million for the Dutchman. Having already spent €62 million on Yoro and £36.5 million on Joshua Zirkzee this summer, it remains to be seen if the Red Devils will pull the trigger on the move.
