Manchester United secured a 1-0 win over Copenhagen at Old Trafford on Tuesday (October 24) in the Champions League. Harry Maguire scored the winner and Andre Onana saved a last-minute penalty to keep knockout qualification hopes alive for the team.

Meanwhile, Juventus are interested in Jadon Sancho. Elsewhere, Onana has been criticized for joining the Red Devils.

On that note, let’s take a look at the major Manchester United transfer stories from October 24, 2023.

Juventus are interested in Jadon Sancho, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg. The English forward is currently banished from Manchester United’s first-team squad following an altercation with Erik ten Hag.

The 23-year-old has struggled to live up to the hype since joining the Red Devils from Borussia Dortmund in 2021 and his future remains up in the air.

The club are reportedly ready to offload Sancho at the turn of the year and the Bianconeri are interested. The player is keen to end his time at Old Trafford this winter and get his career back on track.

He would prefer to leave England and move to a different league and Juventus are offering him an escape route. The Italian giants are planning to sign the 23-year-old on loan in January. Barcelona and Dortmund have also been linked with Sancho, but a move to either club is considered unrealistic.

Andre Onana slammed for Manchester United move

Former Cameroon international Patrick Mboma believes Andre Onana took a step down in his career by deciding to join Manchester United. The 27-year-old custodian left Inter Milan this summer to reunite with Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford. He was tasked with replacing David de Gea, but has struggled to live up to expectations so far.

Speaking to Tuttomercatoweb, Mboma also praised Onana and added that he has few faults.

“Onana is a great goalkeeper. He has few faults. Let’s say that high exits are his weakness, but he has many talents. With his feet, he is not poor, we all know that. If you take him for 0 and sell him a year later for 50, it’s a very interesting thing. But the question is another: Did Onana make the right choice? In my opinion, on a sporting level going from Inter to Manchester United is not a sporting growth,” said Mboma.

Onana has let in 20 goals in 13 games across competitions this season, registering four clean sheets.

Dutch legend Ruud Gullit believes Rasmus Hojlund’s teammates are letting him down at Manchester United. The Danish striker joined the Red Devils this summer from Atalanta, and has enjoyed a mixed start to life at the club.

He is still finding his feet at Old Trafford, having registered three goals from 10 games across competitions.

Speaking to Premier League Productions, Gullit said that Hojlund’s teammates are busy trying to score themselves instead of setting him up.

“I still think you have to get your striker on the scoresheet. Because if he gets on the scoresheet he gets confidence, then also the rest are looking for him all the time. They don’t look for him as much. And he’s in areas where you can have a look at him,” said Gullit.

He continued:

“You see too many players too eager to score themselves. They’re coming inside, they want to hit the target all the time. I played with [Marco] Van Basten. I always thought if I give it to him, it’s a goal. If I hit it, then it could be a goal. I’d rather give it to him because it’s a definite goal. You know strikers, they’re selfish, they need to score goals. If he’s happy in the team, that makes a huge difference for the rest.”

Hojlund has shown signs of a budding partnership with Marcus Rashford.
