Manchester United Transfer News Roundup: Red Devils agree terms with PSG ace; Adrien Rabiot wants Old Trafford move, and more - July 19, 2024

Manchester United have been very active in the transfer market this summer. New minority owners INEOS took charge of the football side of the club earlier this year and are working to get them back to the top.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils have reached an agreement on personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte. Elsewhere, former Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot is eager to move to Old Trafford this summer.

On that note, here's a look at the key Manchester United transfer stories as on July 19, 2024:

Manchester United have agreed personal terms with Manuel Ugarte, according to acclaimed transfer guru Fabrizio Romano. The Red Devils are looking for a new defensive midfielder this summer amid Casemiro's poor recent form.

The veteran Brazilian was a shadow of his former self last season, prompting the club to consider an upgrade. Casemiro is linked with an exit this year, although the links with Saudi Arabia have gone cold recently.

Ugarte has been identified as the ideal candidate to take his place in Ten Hag's starting XI. The Uruguayan joined PSG last summer and enjoyed a decent campaign.

The 23-year-old registered 37 appearances across competitions but is apparently no longer part of Luis Enrique's plans for the upcoming season. The Ligue 1 champions are working to sign Joao Neves from Benfica this year and are ready to let Ugarte go.

The Premier League giants have convinced the player to move to Old Trafford aand are in talks with their Ligue 1 counterparts to facilitate a deal this summer.

Adrien Rabiot is eager to join Manchester United this summer, according to journalist Abdellah Boulma. The French midfielder is a free agent, with Juventus failing to extend his stay in Turin.

Rabiot is looking for his next destination and is a long-term target for the Red Devils. Ten Hag is already in the market for a new midfielder amid the uncertainties surrounding the future of Casemiro and Scott McTominay.

Recent reports have suggested that the Dutch manager has his eyes on Manuel Ugarte, but prising him away from PSG could be a costly affair. Having invested close to €100 million in Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro, Ten Hag might be tempted to seek a more cost-effective option.

Rabiot could be his man, and it's believed that the Frenchman is ready to move to Old Trafford as well. However, the Premier League giants may have to offer the 29-year-old significant wages to complete a deal, though.

Red Devils announce Leny Yoro deal

Manchester United have confirmed the arrival of Leny Yoro at Old Trafford. Ten Hag was in hot pursuit of the French defender all summer following his impressive rise with Lille.

Yoro registered 44 appearances across competitions for the Ligue 1 side last season, all but four of which were from the start. The 18-year-old effectively established himself as one of the best young talents in the land.

Real Madrid were also interested in the Frenchman, but the Premier League giants moved quickly to secure his services. Yoro has signed a new five-year deal at Old Trafford until 2029.

Speaking to the club's website, Yoro added that the Red Devils won the race by showing a lot of care of him and his family.

“Signing for a club with the stature and ambition of Manchester United so early in my career is an incredible honour.
"Since my first conversations with the club, they set out a clear plan for how I can develop in Manchester as part of this exciting project and showed a lot of care for me and my family," said Yoro.

He continued:

“I know about the history of young players at Manchester United and feel it can be the perfect place to reach my potential and achieve my ambitions, together with my new team-mates. I cannot wait to get started.”

Yoro could be a superb replacement for Raphael Varane, who left this summer.
