Manchester United Transfer News Roundup: Red Devils to make Sofyan Amrabat decision soon; club learn Marc Guehi price, and more - July 13, 2024

Manchester United are working to add more quality to their side before the start of the 2023-24 campaign. Erik ten Hag's team finished last season in eighth place in the Premier League but won the FA Cup.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils will make a decision on on-loan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat next week. Elsewhere, the English giants will have to pay a premium for the services of Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi this summer.

On that note, here's a take a look at the key Manchester United transfer stories as on July 13, 2024:

Manchester United will make a decision on Sofyan Amrabat's future in the coming days, according to acclaimed transfer guru Fabrizio Romano. The Moroccan joined the club last summer on loan from Fiorentina but endured a difficult campaign.

However, Amrabat ended the season on a high, helping Erik ten Hag's team win the FA Cup by beating Manchester City 2-1 in the final. The Red Devils reportedly have a €25 million option to sign the 27-year-old permanently this year.

Ten Hag is likely to bid adieu to Casemiro this summer, with the player regressing over the course of last season. The manager is eyeing options from the market to replace the Brazilian, but Amrabat could also be an option.

The Moroccan is desperate to return to Old Trafford and has decided to leave the Serie A side this summer. His contract expires in 2025, and he's now waiting for the Premier League giants to make a move.

Red Devils learn Marc Guehi price

Manchester United have to break the bank to secure the services of Marc Guehi this summer, according to Football Insider. The English defender has gone from strength to strength with Crystal Palace recently and has turned heads at multiple clubs this summer.

Guehi appeared 29 times across competitions for the Eagles last season and has been a mainstay for the Three Lions at Euro 2024. He missed the quarter-final win against Switzerland on penalties due to suspension but has started every other game.

The Red Devils are pleased with his efforts and are eyeing a move this summer. Ten Hag wants to add more steel to his backline before the start of the new campaign. The manager is in talks with Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt.

However, Ten Hag apparently wants another defender amid the uncertainties surrounding the future of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof. The Premier League giants initially had their eyes on Jarrad Branthwaite, but Everton are demanding a colossal fee for their star man.

The situation has forced Manchester United to consider alternatives, and they have found their man in Guehi. However, prising the 24-year-old away from Selhurst Park is likely to be a costly affair, as Palace want £70 million to let him go.

Manchester United open to Jadon Sancho exit, says Fabrizio Romano

Manchester United remain open to Jadon Sancho's departure this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano. The club recently announced that the Englishman had been reintegrated into first-team training ahead of the new campaign.

Sancho had a public fallout with Ten Hag last season and was shipped off to Borussia Dortmund on loan in January. With the Dutch manager signing a new contract at Old Trafford, the 24-year-old was expected to be on his way this summer.

As such, recent developments have hinted that the player could have a future under Ten Hag. Sancho joined the Red Devils with a huge reputation few summers ago but has failed to live up to the billing.

In his column for Caught Offside, Romano added that the Premier League giants remain ready to offload the Englishman for £40 million this year.

"Sancho met with Erik ten Hag, and the air has been cleared, which is why he is back in first-team training and available for selection if he stays at the club.
"And from Sancho's perspective, it should be noted, he's never had a problem with Manchester United," said Romano.

He continued:

“The meeting was important. It appeared for many months, even towards the back-end of the season, that the writing was on the wall for Sancho if Ten Hag stayed, but the door is open again now.
"Manchester United will still consider a sale since they would welcome a £40m fee to do other business."

He concluded:

“But that meeting was a crucial step and it takes away the urgency of having to resolve the Sancho situation immediately.
"Now Sancho and Ten Hag can move on, and it puts United in a strong position to either use him or hold out for the fee they are looking for, given suitors won't be able to leverage an untenable situation to their advantage any longer."

Sancho is linked with a permanent return to Signal Iduna Park this summer.
